I have 30 years of experience as a CMA and caregiver. I have 15 years of working for Caring Touch Health Services. I became a caregiver because I like helping people and working with them; mostly the elderly and ill. My job is fulfilling because it means so much for the people I take care of. It is rewarding for me when they mention to me that they do not know what they would do without my assistance. A most memorable memory working with my clients was when I worked with a patient. It was New Year's day 2021. She said to me "I am so glad you came in today, I am so glad I have someone to talk to. I do not want to be by myself today." She was feeling a bit under the weather and she needed me to be there for her and I was there for her.

Just knowing that I am helping someone by making them comfortable, safe, and that they know they can count on me... allows me to feel needed and makes my job fulfilling. I have been a caregiver for over 20 years. When I was 13-14 years old, a lady from NY would come for the summer to stay at her VB home. She was in her late '70s to early '80s. S I walked by her home, I caught her attention and before we knew, I was in her home assisting and helping her with things she could not do such as cleaning. We would also talk for hours. Once I asked her as to why she would not hire the lady next door to her, "You are different, you do not mind, and I feel I can trust you", she replied. A memorable moment was 3 years ago. My patient moved from her family home which was not livable to a smaller apartment. She had no one to help her move so my husband and son helped with her move. She cried and was deeply grateful for our help. She said, "She prayed to God that He would send someone like me." "She did not want to ask me because she knew I worked long hours." That was a heartfelt moment for me!

I have been a healthcare provider for 31 years now. I have a passion to be a part of a healing process to help others when they cannot help themselves. My job is fulfilling when I look after other's wellbeing. Being able to help them accomplish and fulfill their needs... by building a positive relationship with them... by listening to them concerning their personal issues and their feelings and showing them that somebody cares. A most recent memorable memory occurred recently. My client likes his thermostat at 62 degrees all year round. He told me he likes it that way otherwise he cannot sleep. One specific day the weather report said it was going to be 36 degrees. I decided to dress for warmth. As soon as I walked in the door, I felt the heat. "I wanted you to be comfortable because it is going to be cold all day", my patient stated. He had the thermostat set at 80 degrees just for me; "boy, was I over-dressed."
